RENA vs Erika Kamimura

On Wednesday night, a battle between the face of Shoot Boxing, RENA, and Erika Kamimura is set to take place. Both of the fighters are a lot younger than expected as RENA is 20 and Erika is 18. Don't let their ages fool you though as this will be the 47th match between the two. Let's take a look at the fighters and what they bring to the ring:

Important Facts:
1. A majority of RENA's matches have been under Shoot Boxing rules and she trains at a Shoot Boxing gym.

2. RENA has never lost by KO/TKO even though she has faced strong punchers before such as Hisae Watanabe.

3. There have been rumors spreading that RENA has been contemplating retirement.

Age: 18
Height: 158cm/ 5'1
Weight: 47kg/ 103.6 lb
Record: 23-1 (12 wins by either KO/TKO - Lone loss by decision)

Important Facts:

1. Erika trains at a kickboxing gym and most of her matches are kickboxing matches.

2. Erika has power. I repeat, Erika has power. She has found a lot of success with her left hook. This power was evident when Erika knocked RENA down in an exhibition match they had this year.



Charlie's Prediction: Erika by TKO

I don't see how RENA can avoid the power and aggressiveness of Erika for five rounds. They will be using smaller gloves than they did in the exhibition which, will mean that the punches will be landing even harder..
